Affordable housing may sound like fanciful folklore to many people in the UK, where house prices soared by 10.1pc in the year to March.
But what if the magical properties known from Disney films were really available to buy? House Network, the estate agents, have calculated how these fairy-tale fortresses would fare in the UK property market.
The Sultan's Palace, Aladdin: £1.75bn
Private walled gardens, vast reception rooms and a dozen bulbous turrets would make the Sultan's palace a sought-after property.
As the Aladdin castle is the home of royalty, House Network has based its valuation on central London prices – although relocating to Kensington would lose the desert heat of Agrabah.
Using the size of the palace's front gate for scale, the entire property seems to add up to 1.15m square feet. At West London prices of £1,672 per square foot, the Sultan could make £1.9bn by putting his palace on the market. However, the estate agents reckon it would go for slightly less – £1.75bn – due to "structural issues" arising from when evil vizier Jafar magicked the property to a mountain top and back.
The King's Castle, Cinderella: £83.6m
The grand ballroom is the centrepiece of this late gothic-style castle, which comes replete with 27 ivory towers and a moat.
House Network estimated that the property, with more than 20 reception rooms including a wedding chapel, would be roughly 50,000 square feet. At central London prices of £1,672, as this is the home of royalty, that puts a price tag of £83.6m on the castle.
Grab it while you can – the deal might expire at midnight.
The Beast's Castle, Beauty and the Beast: £15m
For luxury property purchasers who prefer secluded woodland than city centres, this mountain top location could be for you.
With 60 rooms, 90 acres of private land and gargoyle-encrusted towers, the property would go for slightly more than other castles in the UK property market, probably fetching £15m, according to House Network's estimates.
The castle's jaw-dropping library is included in the property sale, as is a full team of staff, who are believed to be absolutely enchanting.
Prince Eric's Castle, The Little Mermaid: £4m
This cliffside castle offers unrivalled sea views and direct access to the beach.
Coastal properties in the UK attract seven figures, and this one could sell for more thanks to its three floors, many balconies and private docking area.
The Dwarves' Cottage, Snow White: £250,000
Hidden deep in the woodland, this detached cottage offers the perfect rural retreat for those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle.
The cosy property has two large bedrooms and has been known to sleep up to eight people.
Based on the valuation of a similar property in Devon, House Network estimates that this house would fetch £250,000.
